Value For Money – Giving You A Better Deal
As consumers, we’re always on the look out for the better deal and this applies in the field of digital music distribution also. That’s why we recently took a look at our prices and decided that we could do better and in the process, help the customer out as well.
Our prices have been brought down but the services we provide have not. Let’s take our Single package which costs £6.99 (about $11.40 at today’s exchange rate). This buys you release of one track to all of our stores/outlets. Pretty sweet huh?
Now, lets take a look at the leading U.S Distributor and what it would cost you to have the same deal with them. A single (1 track) to 1 store costs £6.13 (about $9.99 at today’s exchange rate) with additional stores costing £1.23 (about $2.00 at today’s exchange rate).
You may be jumping ahead of the logical conclusion here but we’ll give it to you anyway. If you want your music on sale in more than one store, you’ll pay more to them than you will to us. But lets take it to the extreme. Let’s assume you wanted to distribute to 15 different stores, using the U.S company pricing, you would pay $9.99 + 14x$2.00 = $37.99 or £23.30. The cost with Tunefire? That’s right, it’s just £6.99 ($11.40).
As of today (26th April 2011) our packages are priced:
- Single – £6.99 ($11.40)
- E.P – £14.99 ($24.44)
- Album – £19.99 ($32.59)
And for each of those packages, your tracks get placed on sale with all of our stores. (LIST HERE)
Oh yeah? What about the yearly fee?
- Glad you asked. We charge a per customer fee of £10.00 ($16.31) per year. Now, lets assume that you are Joe Bloggs and you’ve released 2 Singles, an Album and an E.P with Tunefire. That will cost you £40.00 per year right? Wrong! It’ll cost you £10.00 per year as we don’t charge per-release. Oh, did we mention we don’t ask you to pay this until the end of your first year/beginning of your second?
What about Trending Reports? You don’t do those. Why?
- Trending reports are produced by iTunes but come with a disclaimer. The disclaimer points out that the reports are subject to change. This is a polite way of saying that the reports may not be 100% accurate. If you’re in the business of Music, what good is unreliable data, even if it is free? What we give you are known as accounting reports. These reports, published about a month a half after the sale are always accurate and give you a true picture of your sales. We email these to your inbox and yes, they’re all part of the service.
Why would I want to sell my Music in other stores?
- A fair question. Let me ask you: why would you not want to have your music on sale in as many places as possible?
We’ve noticed Distributors boasting that they distribute to hundreds of stores! The truth is that iTunes regardless of how many countries they are in, are still iTunes and we only therefore count them as one. We just don’t like to mislead people. There’s no need for it.
More and more people are coming to Tunefire to get their releases out to the world. They like the pricing, the no-nonsense, plain English approach and support that we offer. We’re proud of our new prices and feel they offer the best value in the business.
Of course you can continue to use others and pay more if you wish.
